First off I would like to introduce myself to everyone. My name is Stephanie Gay and I have been married for 6 years and next weekend my husband and I will be celebrating our daughter’s 1st birthday…how exciting. I am an avid blogger in the blogging world and I am very excited that Cirrus Medical wanted me to start a series here. Each week I will blog about things you need to know as you travel. I hope that my input will help make your Traveling Nurse assignment easier, help you make new friends, make wonderful yummy dishes and I will probably tell you way too much of what’s going on in my world. But that’s the fun part about blogging…I get to write my thoughts about certain topic’s. One thing I do ask of everyone who is reading this is to help me along the way. If you have some input…please comment. If you have a topic you want me to discuss…please comment. Just think of this as an open forum and your comments are strongly appreciated and welcome. So now that you know a little about me and what I want to accomplish…let’s get started with my 1st topic. It’s a fun one!!!
So you just signed your contract and emailed it back to your recruiter and you start thinking…its time to start packing!!! Unless you have traveled before, packing for three months is probably overwhelming. If you are like me just a weekend away with my one year old is overwhelming so packing for three months would make be nauseas. So, grab a piece of paper and a pen, because with my help…your packing for your next Travel Nursing Job is going to be much easier!
Let’s start where the magic happens….that’s right…the kitchen. HA…you may start to notice I have a big since of humor.
- Pots & Pans
- Dish rags
- Plates
- Cups
- Silverware
- Coffee Maker (the best invention ever) or you can just go to Starbucks every morning. Boy do I wish I could do that. Nothing beets a good cup of Starbucks, but the line at Starbucks stinks. It’s sad when you can read the newspaper, the latest People Magazine and listen to Kelly Clarkson’s new CD before you even order. HA

So after you have things packed to cook those yummy meals, you have to have a place to eat. Cirrus will provide you with a table and chairs, but sitting at the table is sooo last year. With that lets move on to the Den.
- Blanket…you may want to get this…I hear it’s awesome and now comes in stylish colors.

- If you like to watch movies as much as me…you will need to bring your own DVD player or rent one once you are there. Can’t you just picture yourself snuggling up on the couch watching the latest movie you might not have had time to go see at the theater! Sounds like a great night to me!
Now that you have watched a good movie…its time to go to bed. Here is what you will need for your bedroom/bathroom.
- Sheets
- Comforter
- Pillow
- Shower curtain
- Towels
So if you haven’t noticed there is no reason to pack the car so high that you feel that you need to go get a SUV. You can get most of the essentials from your local Dollar Tree, Dollar General, Wal-Mart or Target (my favorite store ever).
To make it even easier you can get most of this stuff once you are there and then throw it away when its time to travel home. Just think of how nice it will be when you go home and don’t have to drag all this stuff home. Sounds like heaven!
I hope you guys have enjoyed what I feel you need to take with you on your next Traveling Nurse assignment. Please let me know if I have missed anything that you strongly fell needs to be listed. Also, check back next week as I discuss our House wares package. Its may make more since to let us provide it for a fee, but then again you may have too much fun packing the whole house on top of your car and traveling across the country. See ya next week!
