If history is not an interest, do not count Pittsfield out.  Geographically, Pittsfield is located between the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers.  The terrain is riddled with streams and small lakes that are full of fish and the land full of wildlife.  The area is great for fishing and hunting as well as camping, boating and water recreation.  Lake Pittsfield is a 200 acre lake that is a prime recreational area for boating, fishing, camping, hiking, and many other outdoor activities.

The town of Pittsfield offers dining from American fair to steak and vegetarian dishes.  You should not go hungry with the wide selection to choose from!  For entertainment you can go to a featured concert in the area.  Concert selections range from classical to jazz and more.  Of course, shopping is always very important.  Pittsfield offers outlet mall shopping for the latest and greatest fashions.  Antique shopping is also a real treat in Pittsfield!
