My most awesomely funny travel tale occurred several years ago in Ohio. Another traveler that I had previously worked with had taken a permanent assignment as an OR manager. She then requested me as a travel nurse to work in her OR, as I had both circulating and scrub experience.
My first day at the facility, I went to security to obtain my badge and fill out paperwork with human resources. I was finished by 9 a.m., and reported to surgery for orientation. The staff was in an uproar, as several people had called out due to a flu outbreak, and the schedule was heavy that day.
When Linda saw me arrive, she latched onto me and said "I need you to scrub an emergency case, now, and I'll circulate!", and directed me to a general surgery room. I quickly set up the back table and mayo for an emergency perforated bowel case. When the surgeon entered the room with the patient and anesthesia, he did a double-take as he saw me. "Who is this, and does she know what she's doing?", he demanded.
Linda replied to him, "She's an experienced traveler, a damn good nurse, and the scrub for your emergency case--now go wash your hands!".
The surgeon looked stunned briefly, but went to scrub, and returned to the OR. As the patient was prepped and draped, he said not a word. At the end of the case, though, he made a point to shake my hand and said "Thank you for helping me today; I look forward to working with you again". As I prepared to say "you're welcome", he added, "But next time, leave Linda out--she's got a mean streak!".

Supply of nurses is getting short each year and with the Healthcare reform at hand I'm still in doubt of its outcome to the expand of nursing community in the country. With more and more patients coming and going at hospitals each year and more and more nurses retiring, with little number of men nurses, and the shortage of doctors also which gives rise to another role of some nurses, I just don't know what is the real impact of this healthcare bill. I'm still hoping for the best though.

The presidents Bill will decrease compitition for insurance company's and increase the dept burden for our families and our children by incredible amount.

The government has been controlling the VA system for years and has had MANY problems and our Veterans will be the first to tell you. The ones that can afford it go outside of the VA to get their healthcare.

Nathan, I have know Cynthia since 2006 when I started working at a small retail store in North Florida. She is one of my favorite people to see come though our doors. I always make sure she comes to my line so she can get checked out fast and she can be on her way. She buys LOTS of things for a lot of people and does it from her heart.
I really enjoyed reading the article you wrote about her.

While looking through the eyes of a patient, I would accept the traveling nurse as a sip of fresh air. I think the traveling nurses expand the horizons of the hospital ward greatly.
I think the pictures of the sick may be named the traveling nurses too.
Plus traveling nurses fuel such activity and consequently the sick start to heal other - become the traveling nurses themselves
At least I see so my personal works http://arthiker.wordpress.com/
